Date
Itinerary

Day 1 –

Fly to Cairo on an overnight flight.

Day 2 -

You’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your 5-star hotel. The afternoon is yours to relax after your flight.

Day 3 -

We journey to the desert outskirts of Cairo and the remarkable Great Pyramids of Giza, which some scholars believe were built to align with constellations. While here, we embark on a camel ride like explorers of old. We also explore the temple of the mysterious Sphinx. We continue to Sakkara, the very first pyramid. Tonight, join us for our Hermes welcome dinner.

Day 4 -

We fly to Luxor today and embark our 5-star cruise ship.  This afternoon our Egyptologist guide leads a comprehensive tour of Luxor’s East Bank, featuring Karnak, Egypt’s most elaborate temple built over generations by countless pharaohs.

Day 5 -

We cross the Nile to the West Bank and the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs were buried deep underground in elaborate tombs.  We also visit the terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the only female pharaoh. This afternoon we set sail to Esna and Edfu.

Day 6 -

Today we visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu, the largest and best preserved pharaonic temple in Egypt. We then sail to Kom Ombo to explore the fascinating dual temple dedicated to Sobek & Haroeris. Later, we sail to Aswan.

Day 7 -

Discover Aswan with our Egyptologist guide, including the Aswan High Dam and Philae Temple, which we’ll access by boat.

Day 8 -

This morning we join our short flight to Abu Simbel. As the waters of Lake Nasser rose with the building of the High Dam, each stone of this imposing temple was reassembled on this higher ground to avoid submersion. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy was a driving force in that huge engineering feat. Afterwards we fly to Cairo.

Day 9 -

Explore the greatest collection of Egyptian artifacts at the Egyptian Museum, including the contents of the tomb of the boy-king Tutankhamen, unearthed by Howard Carter in 1922.  We also discover Islamic Cairo and the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of the world’s greatest and largest outdoor markets. Bid farewell at our Hermes farewell dinner tonight.

Day 10 -

Continue your Egyptian discovery on our post-tour extensions to Alexandria. Otherwise, your Hermes tour ends today.

Extension to Alexandria
Day 10 -

Transfer north to discover the Mediterranean flavor of Alexandria today. Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 B.C., Alexandria became the capital of Graeco-Roman Egypt, and the exotic setting for the stormy relationship between Cleopatra and Mark Antony. Its ancient library, memorialized in today’s ultra-modern Alexandrian Library, was the center of learning in the ancient world. Our local guide showcases the city’s best.

Day 11 -

Our tour ends today.
